چکیده

Earlier work on sustainable development devised a policy assessment tool that was based on a static optimisation formulation. Key ingredients in sustainable development problems are the presence of random effects and the conflict between different objectives. To accommodate these, the earlier formulation was strongly stochastic and was posed in a multi-objective framework. The purpose of this paper is to consider the extension of the work to a formulation that deploys dynamic optimisation. In particular it is the aim here to use simulations based on a large scale model to derive dynamic rather than static representations, to integrate these into the optimisation scheme and to assess the benefits. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Recent developments in stochastic MPC and sustainable development

Despite the extensive literature that exists on predictive control and robustness to uncertainty, both multiplicative (e.g. parametric) and additive (e.g. exogenous), very little attention has been paid to the case of stochastic uncertainty. Yet this arises naturally in many control applications, for example when models are identified using least squares procedures. More generally, stochastic u...

A reliability-based maintenance technicians’ workloads optimisation model with stochastic consideration

The growing interest in technicians’ workloads research is probably associated with the recent surge in competition. This was prompted by unprecedented technological development that triggers changes in customer tastes and preferences for industrial goods. In a quest for business improvement, this worldwide intense competition in industries has stimulated theories and practical frameworks that ...

Achieving a Sustainable Urban Form through Land Use Optimisation: Insights from Bekasi City’s Land-Use Plan (2010–2030)

Cities worldwide have been trying to achieve a sustainable urban form to handle their rapid urban growth. Many sustainable urban forms have been studied and two of them, the compact city and the eco city, were chosen in this study as urban form foundations. Based on these forms, four sustainable city criteria (compactness, compatibility, dependency, and suitability) were considered as necessary...
